Academic

Understand Basic Academic Requirements for the individual school you plan to attend as well as for the governing body such as the NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA. For instance, the NCAA Div. I Academic requirements changed in 2008. You will need to meet BOTH the school’s and the governing body’s academic requirements.

Athletic

Begin to track your complete play record, statistics, significant wins, awards.

College Coaches are NOT allowed to initiate contact with athletes--for calling coaches, the coach may not call an athlete, but an athlete may call a coach

Receiving brochures for sports camps is allowed

Academic

Have a deep understanding of Academic Requirements to meet eligibility for BOTH the institutions you are applying to and their athletic governing bodies (e.g. NCAA Div. I Academic requirements changes in 2008)

Make Serious Progress Toward Academic Requirements

Study for and take ACT/SAT Exams

Unofficial visits to schools is allowed

End of 11th Grade Year Register with The Eligibility Center

Athletic

Go to the NCAA Eligibility Center online to fill out the Amateurism certification questionnaire. This is REQUIRED and will ask question regarding your athletic history (see sample questionnaire)

Update your Athlete Profile: Upload Video & Pics, Academics, Athletic stats, Upload News Stories that highlight you

Search Colleges & Save Colleges to your profile’s Communication Center

Call College Coaches at the schools your are interested in

Follow-up with E-Mailing College Coaches

It is ok to receive approved recruiting materials from colleges after September 1st.

Academic

If you do not have a key understanding of the different governing bodies that will determine your Academic Eligibility, it is time to learn, e.g. NCAA Div. I Academic requirements changes in 2008

Make Serious Progress Toward Meeting Academic Requirements

Take ACT/SAT Exams and Send scores to the governing bodies and schools

Register with The Eligibility Center (if playing NCAA Div. I or Div. II)

Take Official Visits to schools
